Tickets for the Kamloops Y Dream Home Lottery sold out in record time once again this year.
All 15,000 tickets sold out in nine and a half days, beating last year’s record where 13,000 tickets sold out in 13 days.
Spokesperson Bryce Herman says it shows how well embraced the lottery is.
“I mean it’s a local home grown lottery, it’s very solid, it gets a lot of support. Clearly, the business community supports us in putting the initiatives together and the people of Kamloops support the initiative by coming out and purchasing tickets in the most unbelievable rapid rate that you could imagine.”
Herman says he’s not sure how many more records the lottery can break.
“I didn’t think that we could beat the record that we had so I’m absolutely shocked that we have. We’ve always tried to maintain somewhat of a small, local feel and keep this lottery homegrown. I’m not sure how much faster we can sell this. Certainly, we’ll be looking at ways of efficiency.”
Herman says there are still plenty of 50/50 tickets available, with the prize pot at over $70,000 right now.
